Teaching ELA (Reading and Writing) is an exciting adventure for my students as well as myself. In class we will be learning about grammar skills, exploring different genres in literature, focusing on writing skills and the different ways to write whether it's through narrative, expository, persuasive essays or letter writing. Students will also gain confidence as they work on their speaking and listening skills.
The Gilbert system has been a part of my life for the last eighteen years. My first child started kindergarten at Houston Elementary while my daughter was enrolled in the Amanecer Developmental pre-school program – It was then I became hooked into education! I volunteered and was PTSO president for several years at Houston Elementary. I also started subbing within the school district and continued on with my teaching certificate through Ottawa University. My desire for advanced education continued with my Masters in Educational Leadership and then I obtained my Principal Certification through NAU.
I have taught a gamut of grades from first to sixth. I also had the great opportunity to help open Gilbert Classical Academy as their Dean of Students, as well as worked Canyon Rim Elementary and August Ranch Elementary in the same capacity.
Having an open door policy and continued open communication with my students and parents is very important to me and your child’s success. I always welcome a phone call, e-mail or scheduled meetings. Students can also communicate with me about concerns and their successes before and after school, during lunch (just let me know you are coming in so I’m there). Students can also write me a letter/note and place it in my class mailbox or e-mail me.
